Brilliant driver clears several miles of traffic jam by sounding horn

London, UK (dpo) - This morning, a Londoner cleared a traffic jam of approximately 20 miles (32 km) in a matter of seconds with his gallant intervention. While other drivers queued helplessly, Andrew Richardson (28) loudly beeped his horn once and gesticulated wildly, which immediately cleared the traffic jam.

“It’s a good job the bloke took some action”, recounts a van driver who was on the same stretch of the M25 between the A41 junction by Kings Langley and junction 14 towards Heathrow.
“It was bumper-to-bumper traffic all the way. And suddenly, this guy came along and just had this brilliant idea.”
Traffic jams would be less likely to happen if drivers sounded their horn more often
The 14,000 or so drivers involved just needed to hear the protracted signal from Richardson’s car and they all realised with a start that they should drive on rather than just sitting around stupidly. Thanks to this 28-year-old’s presence of mind, traffic began flowing again within mere seconds.
Statistics show us just how important people like Andrew Richardson are. Traffic experts estimate that around 90% of traffic jams on British motorways are purely caused because no one is ever sounding their horn.
The M25 hero modestly explains, “In such cases, I am just glad I am able to let people know I am in hurry.” Richardson is an insurance salesman and was on his way to an important appointment. “It can be such a nuisance when everything grinds to a halt and you are the only one with important plans which cannot possibly be postponed.”
This is not even the first time that Richardson has solved an everyday problem by intervening decisively. Just last weekend, he made a traffic light in central London turn green by nervously drumming his fingers on his steering wheel and repeatedly revving his engine loudly.
